We welcome applications from organisations, clubs and other charities where the award of a grant would improve the quality of life of those living in former mining communities.

We welcome applications from organisations, clubs and other charities where the award of a grant would improve the quality of life of those living in former mining communities.

What grants are available?

We make grants towards community projects that will impact and enhance the lives of former miners, their families and dependants.

How much can be applied for?

Grant awards vary depending on the project and benefit to the community.

How are community grants considered and awarded?

All community grant requests are considered by the Trustee Board. All grants are discretionary and the details and terms of any grant award are contained in the community grant application pack.

We also consider applications for community grant support via our partner CISWO.

How can we apply for a community grant ?

Examples of groups we've helped in the past

The Trust Fund provides an annual grant that supports the continuance of this important section. The section through its secretary, Margaret Holmes arrange meetings, lunches, trips and seasonal events that benefits the partners and widows of former miners.

The Trust Fund have also supplied a grant award for the purchase of a computer and home office equipment, to support the ongoing work of the Ladies Section.

The Trust Fund were pleased to make a significant grant award to cover the cost of replacing water pipes and associated works, at the allotment, which benefitted this former mining community.

"On behalf of the association, I would like to thank you... The allotments are a great asset to the local community and help top focus body and mind. The Birklands School have been doing some lessons in our community garden and we provide a part of our meeting shed for classroom activities."

The Trust Fund were delighted to be able to fund the purchase of a Defibrillator Cabinet and cover the cost of providing First Aid Training for up to 12 people in the community..

The school benefitted from a Trust Fund grant award of £600 towards the cost of computers for home learning.

The Trust Fund supported this charity, by providing a grant award for two Defibrillators to be installed on minibuses, that provide a specialist transport service for the community of Blidworth and surrounding areas.

This charity also benefitted from a grant award for a satnav to be fitted to a minibus for the benefit of the community.

A year ago Ollerton Bowls Club was in great danger of folding due to the lack of reliable machinery. All our machines were over 60 years old.

A grant from the Trust Fund payed for a reconditioned mower. Additional donations from local businesses along with donations from members allowed us to take other machines out of commission and secured our near-term future.
